CYBER ESSENTIALS · FOR UK MANUFACTURERS

Has your biggest customer asked about Cyber Essentials yet?

If not, there is a good chance they will. We help UK manufacturers get certified, and we make the IT changes it needs properly, so the certificate reflects how the business actually runs.

We hold Cyber Essentials ourselves.

Why customers are asking now

In April 2026 the government launched the Cyber Resilience Pledge. It is aimed mainly at medium and large organisations, and those that sign commit to three things about their suppliers:

  1. 01

Register with the Cyber Essentials Supplier Check Tool.

  2. 02

Audit Cyber Essentials coverage across their entire supply chain and present it to their board.

  3. 03

Take a risk-based approach to requiring Cyber Essentials from suppliers, which may mean requiring it from all of them.

The NCSC puts it plainly:

a growing number of organisations require suppliers to be certified to bid for work.

For a manufacturer, the question usually arrives in a supplier questionnaire, with a deadline attached.

What Cyber Essentials is

It is the government's recommended minimum standard of cyber security for organisations of any size, built on five technical controls:

  1. 01

    Firewalls

  2. 02

    Secure configuration

  3. 03

    Security update management

  4. 04

    User access control

  5. 05

    Malware protection

None of it is exotic. What changed recently is that multi-factor authentication is now required on cloud services wherever it is available, and cloud services can no longer be left out of scope. If you certified a few years ago, the ground has moved.

Cyber Essentials Plus

Cyber Essentials Plus keeps the same five controls and adds an independent technical test. If your customer has asked for Plus, tell us and we will say plainly what it involves.

How we help

  1. 01

    A short call.

What your customer has asked for, and by when.

  2. 02

A look at what you have.

We check your setup against the five controls and the current question set, and tell you what would fail.

  3. 03

    We fix it properly.

Multi-factor authentication, updates, firewall rules, accounts and devices, done on your systems so they stay fixed after the certificate is issued.

  4. 04

    Certification.

We guide you through every question of the assessment, submitted through our certification partner.

Why us

We hold Cyber Essentials ourselves. We are a London IT firm, trading since 2003, built around manufacturers of 25 to 250 people. We look after the office and the shop floor as one system, so the changes Cyber Essentials needs do not break anything on the production side.

One honest note

Cyber Essentials proves the basics are in place on the day you certify, and it is renewed every year.

It is a baseline, not a finish line.

We would rather you pass because the basics are genuinely in place than because the answers were written well.

Thirty minutes

Tell us what your customer asked for and by when. We will tell you plainly what it will take.
